adorable

This is Julie with her reading class text book. She is so sweet (and well behaved - unlike a lot of her classmates). She always has some sort of flower clip in her hair. Yes, that is real fur that she is wearing.
She almost always comes late, sometimes more than an hour late. The reason - she sleeps in. For a child of 6 years old, that is a bad habit to start. She is not the only one, either. There are a few of them that always walk in late. Why don't their mothers get them up and ready for school? They are sleeping in themselves, are already out and about doing what ever it is that they do (many of the mothers in wealthier families don't work, but rather just 'play with their friends'), or they simply don't care.
How sad.

Wow, real fur!

They better pay you enough to deal with the snobby parents!

Luckily for me, it is my co-teacher, a Korean English teacher, that has to deal with the parents.

Is it purely a Canadian thing that I'm wondering where the fathers are in all of this?

Well, the fathers are at work. Most of them (at my current school and my last one) are doctors, dentists, lawyers, company owners or managers and such. A few are famous actors, from what I've heard.
Some fathers are very much a part of the children's lives, others, not so much.
