Coffee
I've been staying at work later because I had time to waste. Today I left a bit earlier than normal because I decided I wanted some coffee. Angel-in-us Coffee by Oksu station. Much fancier than the ones I've been to in other places, though they could have all been renovated since I went.

Casts
I had a bit of a problem a few weeks ago. I had gone to Krav Maga class on a Thursday night. We were doing kicks and kick defenses as well as rolls. After the class I felt great and even ran up the hill to my home. Did some laundry and cleaning and then went to bed. At about 4 am, I woke up in extreme pain. Both my feet hurt so much, on the tops of my feet. There was no swelling or bruising, they just hurt so much. I couldn't even stand up. I managed to get to my fridge to get some ice. I tried to ice them to see if it would help but it made no difference. Heat made no difference, either. I took some painkillers and just laid there waiting, hoping the pain would ease. When it was time to get ready for work, I still couldn't walk. I could kind of stand on my heels so hobbled around on my heels to get ready. My school was going to send someone to take me to the hospital, but then decided everyone was too busy. So they called to get an ambulance to take me. The ambulance driver piggy-backed me down the stairs (my home is on the 3rd floor) and to the ambulance. The attendant in the back of the ambulance with me checked blood pressure and such. Said, "Very good!" Neither the driver nor the attendant spoke any English. When we arrived at the Soonchunhyang Hospital, the back doors were opened and the staff literally stopped dead, with shocked looks on their face. OMG! A waegook! Ha. Inside, they had me fill in a form then took me to get x-rays. The x-rays showed nothing wrong. The doctors had no idea what was causing the pain so they just put casts on both my feet to immobilize them.
Since I couldn't walk a friend sent her husband to pick me up and take me to their place so she could take care of me. I spent the weekend hanging out with the dog, and watching/playing with the baby from the comfort of their sofa.
Halloween 2012
Halloween has come and gone. I wish that Halloween came more than once a year! So much fun. I always have to have two costumes. One for my kindergarten Halloween party and one for going out. I asked all of my students during the week before the part what they thought I should be. Last year I was Snow White. Almost every student said they wanted to see scary Laura teacher. They had seen pictures of my last year's Spider Queen costume and wanted to see what I looked like scary. So I went towards more of a witch/demon/vampire.
Only two students were too scared. One of my 5 yr old (western age 4) class boys and one 5 yr old class girl, I'm sure only because it was her first day and she had no idea who I was.
For going out this year I was a steam punk vampire. I got the idea from the corset. I saw the corset months ago and just wanted it. So bought it. What can I do with a corset? Halloween costumes are a great idea. :)
A lot of prep went into my costume this year. I hand made my skirt - a three tiered bustle skirt, because I couldn't find one that I liked or that would match. I also hand made or altered some of the accessories.
My friend Vincianne did my make-up, with Blind Mag as inspiration. She also did my make-up last year. What am I going to do without her next year???

Painted Glass
I have become more and more crafty over the past year. One of the things I really enjoy is glass painting. Jars make fantastic candle holders, trinket containers, or even party glasses when needed.
My first attempt:
I was quite happy with the results.
Second and third attempts with suns:
Random.
Made for a couple of my students: mini jars of beads.
My Halloween Candle holder.

Halloween
I keep thinking about Halloween. Last Halloween was so fun and my costume was quite amazing. I keep thinking about what kind of costume I could do that would either be better or at least as good as last years. Yes, it's a bit early, but it takes planning!!! I've got some ideas already.
Last Halloween I was a Spider Queen or Widow. Creepy, sexy, cool and just plain awesome. It took a while to figure it all out, plus a practice run on make-up (My good friend V is amazing with make-up) and then about 4 hours to put it all together. The results:
So for this year's Halloween costume... Ice Queen? Vampire? Fairy? Hmmmm.

some more small
After more thinking (after the whole "I'm good at being small!" comment), Jeanne came up with, "I am good at making silly songs." She wrote that below the picture and then wrote down one of the silly songs that she had made up a while back. She sang it to me a month or so ago. TOOOO funny!!!! I'd post the video of it but don't have her permission. Maybe I'll get her to sing it and just get the audio of it. :)
"I am little I am small
and I talk a little bit
and I am very very cu te
and I am a butt shaker".
small
One of my students, Jeanne, was doing a page in her writing home study book. The topic was, "What Are You Good At?" with space to draw a picture and a few lines to make a sentence or two about the picture. She wasn't sure what to do.
Jeanne: What am I good at?
Me: What are you good at?
Jeanne:.............ummmmm.
Me: Well? What are you good at?
(insert lightbulb over her head here and an 'I got it' look)
Jeanne: I'm good at being small!!!!
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Jeanne is in grade two and is the second smallest in her class. Too funny.
